About Cavendish Health Centre

The centre was established in 1991, extensively refurbished in 1999 and again in 2009 and now provides very good facilities. It is a national Health Service (NHS) centre, providing primary care services free of charge to all registered patients. The practice is funded through a contract with NHS England. Click here to see our NHS website.
Our practice population includes residents of Marylebone and also people who live further afield but work or study locally.

Covid Swab Testing
Cavendish Health Centre are delighted to now be able to offer Covid swab testing on a private basis. This is for people who do not have any symptoms of covid-19. The results will be received with 24hours of your swab reaching the testing laboratory.
The Covid swab test is to confirm whether you have coronavirus (Covid-19) now and cannot tell you about past infections or immunity. The test may be undertaken on a private basis for:
People who may need it prior to travel (we can provide a flight letter too)
People who require it for their work
People who want an asymptomatic screening test
People who want a test on return to the UK from abroad.
We recommend that people who have symptoms of Covid try to access a test on the NHS for free via the gov.uk website or by calling 119. Unfortunately we cannot offer NHS Covid swab tests at this time.
What the swab test involves:
The test involves taking a swab of the inside of your nose and the back of your throat, using a long cotton bud. This can be unpleasant but isn’t painful.
You can do the swab yourself (if you are aged 12 or over) or someone can do it for you. Parents or guardians have to swab test children aged 11 or under.
The kit comes with an instruction sheet to guide you through this process.
To view this instruction sheet please click here
Please note it is important to follow the instructions carefully to take a good swab so you do not have an inadequate result. If this happens you would need to repeat the test at your own cost.
For an individual NHS Cavendish Health Centre patient: £100
For an individual not registered at Cavendish Health Centre: £110 (Please note you can register at the practice by clicking here)
Additional cost for a flight letter: £10
For a household of 4 people not registered at Cavendish Health Centre: £420
For an office buying >10 swabs: £90 per swab
Note: Prices include postage to the laboratory via Royal Mail Special Delivery Service although a courier service is also available - please contact us to discuss if you wish to have this service.
If you work in an office and require multiple tests or you require repeated tests please contact us for a quote
How to Request a test
If you are an NHS Cavendish patient send us an online message or if not fill in the contact form below
Our administrative team will contact you within one working day and take down your details including your GP if you are not a patient here and your NHS number (needed in case you have a positive result and we have to notify Public Health England) and confirm your consent (click to download here)
Our administrative team then arrange payment over the telephone or online.
Once we have received your payment and your consent form we will post you the kit or you can collect it from the surgery
The kit contains the swab and instructions on how to take the test, and an addressed postage paid envelope to send the kit directly to the laboratory via Royal Mail Special Delivery service. You need to send the kit via the post office on the same day as taking the sample.
If using the Royal Mail Special Delivery Service that is pre-paid the test needs to be posted before the 'post-by' date on the postage label. This is usually within 7 days.
The laboratory will send us your results within 24 hours of receiving your swab
We will contact you by email or SMS, if you have consented to this, with your result
If your result is positive we will inform Public Health England and your GP practice and guide you through the next steps regarding self-isolation etc
